We break down voting by mail and walk through how Midtown residents can apply for a mail-in ballot.

Don't be worried about voting by mail just because of USPS delays. Ballot dropboxes will be available that won't require USPS to deliver your vote.

Vote by Mail

Voting by mail far more convenient than traditional in-person voting.
In order to receive a mail-in ballot (also known as an “absentee ballot”) you have to first submit an absentee voter application.

Apply Online

Signup to vote by mail online by going to Michigan.gov/Vote and click “Apply for an Absent Voter Ballot Online”.

Apply by Mail

The Grand Rapids City Clerk’s office sent absentee voter applications to every registered voter in the city. If you haven’t received one you can let the Clerk’s office know: 616-456-3010

Early Voting

Proposal 2 of 2022 gave the voters the constitutional right to cast a ballot early.  The proposal states that there must be at least 9 days of early voting and at least 8 hours for each of those days.  The early voting period begins two Saturdays before the election and continues daily until the Sunday before.

Early voting allows a voter to cast a ballot before Election Day, in an experience similar to voting on Election Day.

During the early voting period, voters are issued a ballot and can then insert their ballot directly into a tabulator at our early voting site.

Voters will have the opportunity to vote and put their own ballot in a tabulator at any of the Voting Sites the dates and times below.

A Grand Rapids registered voter may go to any of the early location sites:

  • Sts Peter and Paul School - 1430 Quarry NW
